The Day County Sheriff’s Office says on its Facebook page that Amy Dougherty’s body and sport utility vehicle were recovered Friday in a slough. The 46-year-old Doughterty had been missing since Dec. 23, when she left home for her job in Bristol during a blizzard. KELO reported that Doughterty’s sister posted a message on Facebook saying her sister was recovered from the water. The Sheriff’s Office stated that more information would be released as it becomes available.

Officer Dylan Collins had just come on-duty at 6am when he was dispatched to the crash on Highway 12 west of Webster.

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Authorities are still searching for a Day County woman who went missing during last week’s blizzard. Amy Dougherty was last seen Wednesday, after blizzard conditions were sweeping through the area. Dougherty was driving from Bristol in her 2002 black Chevy Trailblazer, but never made it to her destination. The Day County Sheriff’s office and the South Dakota Wing of the Civil Air Patrol have been conducting ground and air searches for Dougherty. Air searches have been concentrating on areas that could be obstructed due to snow.
