Nourse Farm in Westboro opens Veg Out food truck for second season

Barbara M. Houle Correspondent The Veg Out Food Trailer at Nourse Farm in Westboro is open for its second season, providing a take-out menu that’s filled with made-from-scratch salads, soups, sandwiches, smoothies and snacks that utilize the fresh, healthy food grown on the 140-acre family-owned farm. Veg Out founder Catherine Nourse said the food trailer parked next to the Farm Store served its first customers in May, getting off to an early start with the asparagus harvest. The farm’s newest vegetable was an instant hit, especially at the food trailer where it was transformed into Age of Asparagus Soup, said Nourse.

The Recorder - Between the Rows: Key to successful berries is in the soil, distance between plants

Between the Rows: Key to successful berries is in the soil, distance between plants Blueberries are easy to grow and live a long time. For the recorder/Pat Leuchtman Published: 2/17/2017 11:56:17 AM February is National Pie Month and I love fruit pies. Blueberry pie is a longtime favorite. The Benson Place in Heath was my source for low bush blueberries, but I grew a collection of high bush blueberries behind our house. Now in Greenfield, I have planted four Nourse Farms high bush blueberries in a square that can be easily netted. Blueberries are easy to grow and they are long lived. Our Heath high bush berries were still bearing generously after 35 years and demanded very little care.
