An Essex-man has been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder - Credit: Sarah Lucy Brown A man has been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder after a woman was found with stab wounds near Ipswich almost 50 miles away from where the incident began. Christopher Crichton is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 28 following the incident on Monday, April 26. The 32-year-old, of Park Street in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, was initially taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, but was then transferred to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre to be interviewed on Tuesday. Police were called just 8.40am to reports a woman had been seen in distress in the Yarmouth Road area of Kirby Cane, near Bungay.

Christopher Crichton appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday, April 28 following the incident on Monday. The 32-year-old, of Park Street in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, spoke only to confirm his details from Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre during the brief hearing. The case was formally sent to Norwich Crown Court on May 14, with Crichton remanded in custody. He was initially taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre following his arrest, before being transferred to Norfolk to be interviewed on Tuesday.

James Crosbie, 47, of Primrose Crescent, Thorpe St Andrew, has today (Saturday, April 17) been charged with one count of murder. He has also been charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and three counts of possessing an offensive weapon. Crosbie has been remanded into custody and will appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday, April 19.
