CLAYTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - Construction crews are back to work in Clayton.
They were out bright and early Monday installing water and sewer lines on Mary Street.
Meanwhile, work has wrapped up on burying wires underground and fixing up sidewalks on James and Webb streets as well as Riverside Drive.
Itâs all part of a 2 year, $9.2 million project aimed at bettering the village.
âA lot of whatâs going to be done this year is going to be stuff Iâm going to call above ground. The bulk of the utility work has been completed. So that leaves sidewalk, curb, plantings. You know, the nice stuff, the things that kind of finish up the job,â said Mike Flick, DOT spokesperson.

CLAYTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - Walking around downtown Clayton at night, youâll notice things are looking pretty dim.
The village is waiting for new streetlights as part of a multi-million dollar renovation project.
In downtown Clayton, the tops of light poles have been stripped clean. No street lights to be seen anywhere.
Itâs part of the process as National Grid moves the powerlines underground.
Clayton Mayor Norma Zimmer says it has left the area a lot darker.

Never a big fan in his youth, columnist Mike Richard now finds reruns of the family-friendly TV show a reminder of happier, simpler times

The Facebook posting read, “Don’t Tell Me About Your Childhood Problems. I was Forced to Watch Lawrence Welk as a Kid.”
It made me chuckle at first sight, and then pause to pine a bit for the good old Saturday nights of my youth.
When I was growing up in the 1960s, the oldest in a family of five kids, Saturday nights meant hot dogs and beans for supper, the weekly dunk in the bathtub, and – wrapped in my bathrobe with a choice spot on the floor – gathering around our lone black and white console TV set.
