Cleveland County Commissioners met in executive session Monday to discuss an ongoing lawsuit filed by the family of Marconia Kessee, a Black man who died in January 2017 at the county jail.
Commissioners met for nearly an hour, but took no action following the session. Federal court records show depositions of expert witnesses began Monday, with at least a dozen more scheduled through the end of May.

A man who sued the City of Norman in 2016 following a car collision with a Norman Police officer will collect damages after the Court of Civil Appeals upheld a district court ruling Monday.
Curtis Rodgersâ damages totaled $1 million in 2019 after Cleveland County District Court Judge Jeff Virgin deliberated the evidence, court records show.
However, the judge found both Rodgers and NPD Officer Ricky Hanna were equally responsible for the accident, and reduced the amount to $125,000 in light of the Government Tort Claims Act. The act allows a limit of $125,000 for a city the size of Norman.
Court records state that on Oct. 31, 2015, Hanna approached the intersection of 12th Avenue S.E. and Lindsey Street, and Rodgers made a left turn in front of Hanna. Hannaâs vehicle struck the front of Rodgersâ vehicle, according to court records.

Trejan Bridges and Seth McGowan did not play in Saturday’s Red/White Game because they’re suspended from the team, according to a source.
They were removed from Saturday’s game roster as well.
“No. No update,” Riley said. “Kind of like everybody else, just letting this thing play out from a legal standpoint and then we ll make any decisions we ve got to make from there.”
Dylan Grant Brown, 26, was charged Monday in Cleveland County District Court.
It was March 17, 2021 when Norman police received a call from a woman who made an interesting discovery.
“A young lady called us advising that she had found what she believed to be a recording device inside her apartment,” said Lt. Justin Wishon of the Norman Police Department.
It was a recording device, a camera, disguised as an alarm clock Brown is accused of placing in the victim’s bedroom.
“It was an actual functioning digital alarm clock that held an internal SIM card that had a collection of videos on it once we got ahold of the video and the alarm clock itself,” said Wishon.

A death penalty trial for Texas resident Joseph Alliniece continued Tuesday with testimony from law enforcement officers, a former cab driver who picked up the defendant and one of Allinieceâs friends who had recent contact with him.
Alliniece, 32, of Missouri City, Texas, is charged with first-degree murder of Norman resident Brittani Young, 27, as well as two counts of kidnapping and one count of robbery by force or fear.
According to a Norman police affidavit, officers found Young on April 24, 2018, dead inside her Emerald Greens Apartments residence. Alliniece fled the scene but was later arrested that night by Oklahoma City Police Department officers. He was then taken to the Norman Investigations Center for questioning, where he said he couldnât remember anything from that day.
