Guilford Sheriff s Office Administrative Building Temporarily Closed by Neal Charnoff Courtesy Guilford County Sheriff s Office The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office administration building will be closed until Monday, December 18th. Officials say a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.  Sheriff Danny Rogers has announced that the building, located on West Washington Street in Greensboro, is expected to reopen Monday at 8 a.m. According to a news release, administrative issues should be directed to the Legal Process division in the Greensboro courthouse. The office said daily operations will be conducted and carried out from other locations. The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday their administrative offices would be closed through the end of this week due to positive COVID-19 cases being identified.

1 p.m. The  Alamance-Burlington School System confirms COVID-19 is affecting sports programs. ABSS reports some high school volleyball teams have had activities interrupted recently due to covid-related issues. ABSS issued the following statement:  High school sports activities that have suspected or positive covid cases that may be related to teams or coaching staff follow all health and safety protocols as outlined by the NCHSAA and guidance provided by our local health department and our school nurses. For our athletics program, teams will suspend practices and/or competitions as necessary based on guidance received by the NCHSAA and the local health department related to suspected or positive cases. Teams will resume practice and or competition following the NCHSAA guidelines and guidance from our local health department.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its own. Master Corporal Deputy Sheriff Norman Daye passed away from complications related to COVID-19. Daye died on Saturday at his home. He had recently been treated at an area hospital for COVID-19. According to a news release, Daye was a 16-year veteran of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office and started his career in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
