Issues
Loss of accreditation leads to student transfers and name change
In January 2013, the Missouri State Department of Education revoked the accreditation of Normandy School District, enacting a seldom used statute in Missouri called the school transfer law. The law provides students in unaccredited school districts to transfer to other schools without paying tuition. The unaccredited district must provide transportation to at least one other school district.
The Normandy School District chose Francis Howell School District, which is roughly 30 miles away from the Normandy community, as the district where their buses would take students. About 500 students left Normandy, taking federal funding with them.
