For only the second time, astronomers have linked an elusive particle called a high-energy neutrino to an object outside our galaxy. Using ground- and space-based facilities, including NASA s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, they traced the neutrino to a black hole tearing apart a star, a rare cataclysmic occurrence called a tidal disruption event. Astrophysicists have long theorized that tidal disruptions could produce high-energy neutrinos, but this is the first time we ve actually been able to connect them with observational evidence, said Robert Stein, a doctoral student at the German Electron-Synchrotron (DESY) research center in Zeuthen, Germany, and Humboldt University in Berlin. The National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) has awarded Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) another important contract for the former s lunar space station. Dubbed as the Lunar Gateway, the station is a non-critical part of the agency s Artemis program which aims to land U.S. astronauts on the lunar surface decades after the completion of the Apollo program. Today s award is the second Gateway contract that NASA has awarded to the California-based launch services provider, with the first one having come in March 2020, when SpaceX managed to beat The Boeing Company, Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems and Sierra Nevada Corporation, Space Systems (SNC).

Northrop Unit Beats Bids To Toss Sprawling Coverage Suit
Law360 (February 2, 2021, 10:59 PM EST) A Delaware judge on Tuesday bolstered Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems Inc. s bid to tap into directors and officers insurance to cover its costs in a proposed class action accusing its predecessor of misleading investors about its financial health, rejecting insurers efforts to invoke a pair of policy exclusions.
Ruling on a flurry of motions in what he described as a sprawling coverage dispute, Delaware Superior Court Judge Paul R. Wallace found that the underlying putative class action against the Northrop unit s predecessor, Orbital ATK Inc., is covered under two sets of D&O policies and may also be covered by a third.

The Mars InSight mole’s role will end, but other aspects of the mission will continue for another two years, NASA officials said.
InSight which stands for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport launched aboard an Atlas V rocket that blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base on a foggy May 5, 2018, morning. It was the first interplanetary mission after hundreds of blastoffs from the base and was designed to study the interior of the Red Planet.
