A 30-year-old man was the alleged controlling mind behind a plot to raid a security van in west Belfast, a court heard.
Police claimed Jason McMillan directed the foiled cash-in-transit heist which could have resulted in members of the public being seriously injured.
Details were disclosed as the accused was refused temporary release from custody.
McMillan, of Duncairn Parade in the city, was among three men arrested during a PSNI surveillance operation on March 6.
Two co-accused were detained after officers intervened at shops in the Northumberland Road area.
They were in a car from which a loaded gun was recovered, according to the prosecution.
