Amid national uptick in anti-Asian racism, Quincy leaders to hold forum

QUINCY  City leaders will be holding a forum on anti-Asian racism next week amid a rise of reported hate crimes and discrimination tied to the pandemic.  The virtual forum will take place at 7 p.m. March 23 and will be hosted by Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, state Rep.Tackey Chan, Quincy Police Chief Paul Keenan, Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. Chief Executive Philip Chong and others.  The pandemic was just a tipping point for anti-Asian racism that s been in this country for many many years, Chong said. It is important for people to speak up and not accept discrimination. They shouldn t tolerate it. It s really disturbing.

Vines, a Randolph teen, was killed inside his parked car outside 31 Jones Terrace the afternoon of July 21. Police were sent to the scene around 3 p.m. after fielding 911 calls about gunshots in the area. There, they found the 17-year-old boy mortally wounded in the driver’s seat of a silver Honda sedan, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey’s office.
