Nappanee Public Library celebrating 100 years
NAPPANEE, Ind. – 2021 marks the one-hundredth year of operation for Nappanee Public Library. The library will be commemorating its century of growth with its Centennial Celebration.
The event will be hosted in the parking lot of the library on Monday, July 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Food and drinks from Holy Smokes BQQ and Kona Ice will be available for purchase. There will also be music and activities such as a rock-climbing wall and dunk tank.
Attendees will get the chance to share library memories and history in the 2021 time capsule which will be sealed later this year for another century.
Nappanee Public Library celebrates Centennial with creative writing contest By: Maura Johnson
NAPPANEE, Ind. – The Nappanee Public Library is hosting the NPL Centennial Creative Writing Contest for residents of all ages to celebrate the city’s centennial.
Writers can submit their work between April 1 and April 22 based on three age divisions. Each division has its own prompt but the style of writing is up to the writer (essay, poem, short story, etc.).
Only original materials can be entered. Writers can submit their work by mailing it to the library, dropping it off in person, or emailing it to media@nappaneelibrary.org.
Nappanee Public Library receives grant for mental health awareness By: Maura Johnson
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – The Nappanee Public Library was selected to receive a $3,000 grant to fund a program focusing on mental health awareness.
The library was one of 200 libraries chosen to participate in the American Library Association’s “Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries” initiative, which emphases helping library workers better serve their communities.
The grant will fund a “One Book One Community” program allowing the Nappanee library and the Nappanee Mental Health Task Force to select a book the community can read that focuses on mental health awareness.
