On signing the player, Sofapaka coach Ken Odhiambo said: “Timothy [Otieno] is a very good striker, we are delighted to have him with us. He comes on board with a lot of experience having turned out for Harambee Stars and a stint with Napsa Stars in the Zambia top-flight league. I believe he will bolster our attacking options up front.”
Otieno, who has also featured for champions Gor Mahia, managed to score 14 goals for the Brewers in the 2019-20 season but the league was prematurely ended owing to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was after his stellar display with Tusker that Napsa came calling for his services, and he signed for them on September 8, 2020, a move that saw him link up with other Kenyan players in the Zambian league.
Napsa today finished 0-0 away to Kitwe United at Garden Park.
The result sees the Lusaka side exhaust its four outstanding matches with three draws and one defeat.
Overall, Napsa have now collected five draws and two defeats since they beat Prison Leopards 2-1 at home in Lusaka on January 10.
Despite the draw, Napsa crawl one notch up to the top four of the relegation zone to number 15 on as many points and games played.
Napsa host Nkwazi this Sunday in their last game before heading to Nairobi for their Valentines Day date against Gor Mahia of Kenya in a CAF Confederation Cup pre-group stage first leg match on February 13.
“We have finished the deal with Harun [Shakava] and he is now our player again,” Ochola told
Goal on Tuesday. “We have handed him a two-year deal and we are happy to have him in the squad again.
“We hope his experience will help the team do well in the FKF Premier League and also in the Caf Confederation Cup, where we want to go past the group stage.”
Ochola further said they are happy the player will be eligible to feature in Confederation Cup hence the decision to re-sign him.
“He is eligible to play for us in the Confederation Cup and it is another reason why we felt he can be of help to us, we want to use his experience at the backline which has not been performing well in recent matches,” Ochola continued.
