Weddings come in all shapes and sizes, if they happen at all during a pandemic.
Personally, Iâm a wedding minimalist. My first time around, I got married on short notice during the Vietnam war. Vows were exchanged at Travis Air Force Base, then the Army shipped me off.
Not to Vietnam, but to Athens, Greece, but still, it was a rushed affair with no relatives of mine from the East Coast present.
The second time, 18 years ago, was also bare-bones and came on quickly. Cheryl agreed to marry me after three years of dating when I said it was either nuptials or Iâd have to buy myself a home. I didnât want to rent forever.

The rules still apply
With little fanfare, nearly 6 million more Californians became eligible for coronavirus vaccinations Thursday when the state opened the door to people ages 50 to 64 and the first thing many did was search for an appointment some were lucky, others frustrated.
The park is also continuing the implementation of extensive safety measures including several new advanced technology systems to protect guests and employees, said a news release. The plan, developed in consultation with infectious disease experts, âsets standards for executing at the highest levels of hygiene and social distancing protocols,â the release said.
For example, contactless thermal imaging will be used to screen temperatures of guests and employees prior to entry; guests over age and all team members will be required to wear face masks and social distancing will be âstrictly enforced.â
And unlike certain Japanese theme parks that had banned screaming due to COVID-19 you can scream all you want, said Six Flags Marketing Supervisor Daniela Mereles.
