On Saturday, more than 160 people showed up to Rosetta and Malah McFadden’s final farewell at their retirement picnic at Bowers Mansion in Washoe City. Leida A Cookie Sanchez, accomplished educator

May 17, 2021 Leida A. Rodriguez Sanchez of Dover, affectionately known as Cookie, went home to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Dover at the age of 67. She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully. Cookie was born July 29, 1953, to the late Agapito and Ana Rodriguez, in New York City. Cookie is survived by her husband, Harry J Sanchez; her children, Melanie Sanchez, Anjeanette Sanchez, Justin Montanez, Godson Robert Dooley, and her princess Ciara Coley (granddaughter). Cookie had seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by Nancy Rodriguez, Anna Rodriguez, Francis Rivera, Wanda Vega and Hector Rodriguez. She was preceded in death by her brother Agapito Rodriguez Jr. and sister Felicita Torres. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jose Mena had a hunting rifle and told family members he was going to kill himself, according to Logan City police reports. After the gun was wrestled from him, he grabbed a knife and repeated the threats. But according to records in a wrongful death suit in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City, Cache County corrections officers did not know the details of why Mena had been arrested, and they said he expressed no suicidal ideation during the booking process that night of Sept. 3, 2016. Seventeen days later, deputies found Mena unresponsive in his cell, a suicide by hanging.
