One year COVID anniversary: Healthcare workers share their art

In a year of working through the pandemic, Dr. Hetvi Joshi, whose work is focused on caring for people in hospitals, said she has witnessed the immense agony, anxiety and pain experienced by patients. “The suffering we have seen with COVID-19 is [a] thousand times worse than any other illness, ever in my lifetime,” said Joshi, who lives in Tennessee. To cope, Joshi painted hundreds of canvases in the past year, an important way to stay sane through the challenging times. “I don’t think I would have been able to carry on working without the escape to art,” she said.

Author: Stacy Lange Updated: 6:30 PM EST December 16, 2020 The licensed practical nursing students from the Lackawanna Career Technology Center in Scranton had to stand six feet apart waiting for their diplomas and graduated without any friends or family present. Not the graduation ceremony they expected, but these nurses are used to curveballs. Weeks after their program started, the pandemic hit.  Every other week we would take turns talking each other off the ledge. I can t do this anymore, nope, nope, I m done. But like I said, this class has become stronger, we ve grown together and we ve helped each other along that road, said Nancy Prendergast of Scranton.
