RCMP seek help identifying suspect in serious hit and run

Maskwacis RCMP requesting the public s assistance in serious hit-and-run collision

Article content On Dec. 28, at approximately 9 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP were called to investigate a hit-and -un collision involving a pedestrian and a minivan on Four Mile Road; located on the Samson Cree Nation. The 27-year-old female victim was treated by Maskwacis EMS and transported to an area hospital via STARS Ambulance. Information was learned that the driver fled the scene immediately after striking the victim and police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for this hit and run, and with locating the suspect vehicle. St Johns County to reconsider workforce housing proposal

A workforce housing proposal will have another chance in front of the St. Johns County Commission. This month, commissioners rejected the rezoning proposal for 198 single-family units and 124 multi-family units south of State Road 16 and east of Four Mile Road, citing concerns about density, traffic and flooding. The project would have used the county s new Workforce Housing Zoning District, which would require at least 40% of the houses to be priced at $210,000 or less.  Commissioner Jeb Smith, noting that Chair Jeremiah Blocker wasn t present for that discussion, requested at Tuesday s meeting that the Commission hear the item again. Commissioners supported the decision 5-0.
