Defending Northeastern Women’s Golf Association champion Rachel Barlette is hoping she finally has some much-needed momentum as she tries to defend her title against a loaded field Tuesday and Wednesday at Colonie Golf & Country Club.
The 34-year-old longtime member of Shaker Ridge Country Club, who recorded her first major victory in last year’s NEWGA Championship with a playoff win over Pat Mayne, wasn’t playing up to her standards so far this season. But she feels rejuvenated after enjoying a breakthrough earlier this week.

MONTREAL - Forward Cole Caufield and defenseman Jordan Harris were selected by their respective squads to be candidates for the 2021 Hobey Baker Award, which is presented annually to the top NCAA player in the nation.
Caufield is on fire with the University of Wisconsin. Since claiming the goal medal with Team USA at the World Junior Hockey Championship in early January, the 20-year-old right-winger has registered 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 11 games.

Awarded annually to college hockey’s top player, the Hobey Baker award includes candidates exhibiting the exceptional character traits of the award’s namesake, Hobey Baker, with consideration given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.
Steeves has scored nine goals and added six assists for 15 points in 18 contests this season for the Irish, including a six-game point streak from Dec. 4 – Jan. 9. Steeves’ nine markers lead the team and are currently tied for the third most in the Big Ten.
