The circus will ‘Prevail’
The show goes on for the Circus Arts Conservatory, which has put together a new circus production that will be presented in front of live audiences and be available for home streaming. “Prevail” features a number of veterans of Cirque du Soleil shows who have been unable to perform for the last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Some have been working as coaches with the Sarasota Sailor Circus. “Prevail” will be presented Friday through Sunday and March 12-14 in the Sailor Circus Arena, 2075 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota. The lineup of talent includes aerial artist Alanna Baker, aerial strap artist Darren Trull, Native American hoop dancers Eric Hernandez and Shandien LaRance, slack wire artist Evgeny Vasilenko, silk artist Giulia Piolanti, Chinese pole artist Oli Poitras and unicyclists and acrobats Marie-Lee and Philippe, who competed in 2016 on “America’s Got Talent.” All are donating their time and performance to support CAC. Kohler takes first spot on US Olympic rowing team for Tokyo 2020 Sunday, 28 February 2021
Kara Kohler won the women s singles sculls final at the United States Olympic rowing team trials at Nathan Benderson Park to book a place at Tokyo 2020.
Five boat classes were contested during the five-day event in Florida, but only the victor of the women s single sculls had the opportunity to earn a place on the US team for this year s Olympics in Tokyo.
Kohler, the reigning world bronze medallist, edged past Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Gevvie Stone to triumph.
As the two scullers crossed the 500-metre mark, they had open water on the remainder of the field, with Kohler slightly in the lead.
