Sarasota’s Circus Arts Conservatory cancels 2021 Big Top season
The organization s Circus Sarasota show, annual gala and Cirque des Voix have all been put on hold.
The list of annual Sarasota-Manatee events put on hold because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to grow, as Circus Arts Conservatory has canceled its 2021 Big Top season.
Circus Sarasota, an annual gala and Cirque des Voix, its collaboration with Key Chorale, all will be canceled this year, the organization announced Wednesday. Circus Arts Conservatory made the decision because of COVID-19 and financial considerations.
“As we were monitoring the COVID-19 crisis over these last several weeks, we considered the unpredictability of travel, the safety and comfort of our artists and patrons as well as the long-term survival of our nonprofit efforts,” Circus Arts Conservatory’s CEO and co-founder Pedro Reis said in a statement. “It i

At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the Sarasota Wind Quintet will perform at Nathan Benderson Park, while the Sarasota Orchestra Chamber Players will perform at the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast’s Bay Preserve at Osprey. The concerts are presented, weather permitting, for fre
Ellen DeGeneres features Motorworks Brewing
Motorworks Brewing in Bradenton warmed the hearts of dog lovers across the country, including one of TV’s most famous personalities, with the January launch of its Adoptable Dog Cruiser four-packs featuring the faces of local shelter dogs seeking forever homes.
“I heard about a company that’s doing something really cool; they’re helping dogs get rescued by putting pictures of them on their beer cans,” Ellen DeGeneres said, as an image of Motorworks’ beers was projected above her during an episode of the hugely popular daytime show that bears her name.
The superstar television host then had one of her production assistants read the dog descriptions from the back of the cans, but not before drinking some of the Bradenton-brewed contents. “Don’t waste the beer,” DeGeneres said.
