Georgia holds off Vanderbilt, 73-70 Photo: Tony Walsh/UGA ATHENS, Ga. – With a critical block by sophomore Toumani Camara in the closing seconds, the University of Georgia men’s basketball team defeated Vanderbilt, 73-70, Saturday evening before 1,638 fans at Stegeman Coliseum. With the win, Georgia (12-6, 5-6) extended its winning streak to three in a row, the first three-game SEC run for the Bulldogs since March 2017. Sophomore Sahvir Wheeler led Georgia in scoring with 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting, nearly posting a double-double with a team-high nine assists. Graduate P.J. Horne tallied 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting, including four 3-pointers, while Camara and graduate Justin Kier each posted 10 points.

LAST TIME OUT No. 16 Arkansas held off Missouri in the latest edition of the Battle Line Rivalry, beating the Tigers, 85-80, in Mizzou Arena Thursday night. Arkansas has now swept the season series against Mizzou two years in a row, as the Hogs also beat Mizzou, 91-88, on Jan. 3 in Fayetteville. Arkansas guards Destiny Slocum and Chelsea Dungee poured in two outstanding offensive performances to lead the Razorbacks to the victory. Slocum was simply superb in the win, notching a double-double with 22 points and 10 assists while shooting at an incredibly efficient clip, going 8-13 from the field and 6-8 from deep.

The Lady Tigers (8-8, 6-4 SEC) fell 54-41 to the Lady Aggies (17-1, 8-1 SEC). LSU scored just four points in the fourth quarter and its only field goal was a 3-pointer with 29 seconds remaining. The Lady Tigers were once again without head coach Nikki Fargas due to COVID-19 protocols. Assistant coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson filled in for her.
