New Delhi, May 5 : Beware of fake life saving drugs. Instead of Remdesivir, which is required for critically ill Covid patients, similar looking vials of Monocef or Zetri, a low cost antibiotic injection, are being sold in the black market.
Criminal gangs and swindlers active in Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh are reportedly buying Monocef vials in bulk, each piece costing around Rs 52, and selling them to desperate customers for over Rs 5,500 to Rs 10,000 apiece.

Two hospitals in Delhi s Shahdara district of the national capital - Delhi State Cancer Institute and Swami Dayanand hospitals - have started vaccinating many essential workers.
At Delhi s State Cancer Institute, scores of essential workers, who provided immense support to not just the healthcare system but also allied forces such as food deliveries through Anganwadis, small dispensaries, stood in serpentine queues to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

On January 27, the Supreme Court has called for responses from all states and Union Territories on its judgement ordering that CCTV cameras be installed in police stations to ensure accountability for torture and custodial violence. These directions, intended to further the fundamental right to life under Article 21, were passed on December 2 in Paramvir Saini v Baljit Singh. They also extended to the offices of investigative agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation, the National Investigation Agency and the Enforcement Directorate.
