Cottonwood County reported seven new cases, Jackson County, six, Pipestone and Rock counties each reporting four, and Murray County with two new cases. Statewide, another 2,340 individuals tested positive for the novel coronavirus during the period, according to Tuesday morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health. Across Minnesota, 21 deaths were reported from complications of COVID-19 during the 24-hour period. Among the dead were 10 individuals who resided in private residences and 11 individuals in long-term care facilities. Cottonwood County reported 11 new cases, Murray County, five, and Jackson, Pipestone and Rock counties each reporting two new cases. Statewide, another 3,026 individuals tested positive for the novel coronavirus during the period, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. Across Minnesota, 18 deaths were reported from complications of COVID-19 during the 24-hour period the lowest number of deaths from the virus statewide since Nov. 30. Among the dead were seven individuals who resided in private residences, and 11 individuals in long-term care facilities. There have now been 4,462 Minnesotans lost to COVID-19, including 2,917 residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

A private family memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, with Pastor Troy Van Beek officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Public visitation will be Wednesday, December 16th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are encouraged.
