Denison salutes Top 10, Class of 2021

In spite of challenges caused by the nation’s worst pandemic in history, Denison High School’s Class of 2021 graduating seniors are looking forward with great excitement to Saturday May 22nd at 8:30 p.m. when they’ll make the time-honored trip across Munson’s historic graduation stage to proudly accept their diplomas. Because the ceremonies will be outdoors, masks will not be required, but social distance guidelines will be enforced. Only graduates will be seated on the field.
In case of rain on Saturday, graduation will be moved to Sunday night at 8:30. If it rains on Sunday night, the program will be moved to the DHS gymnasium and each senior will be issued four tickets to distribute to family.
Characters of the Month
Sixth grade
Koryn Elizabeth Miller is the daughter of Sara and Michael Miller. She is a member of HMS Drama Club, Girl Scouts and Clover Road Christian Church. Koryn competes in Competitive Cheer at Tri City Quest, softball and tumbling. She enjoys singing, dancing, cheering, acting and pageants.
Seventh grade
Natalie Chapman is the daughter of Jesse and RaeLynn Chapman. She is a member of the Gem City Gymnastics Team, HMS Band and Youth Group at Calvary Baptist Church in Hannibal. Natalie enjoys crafting and tumbling.
Eighth grade
Emilia Bates is the daughter of Kara and Rick Bates. She is a Tom and Becky Ambassador, a member of the Leaders of the Crew and Pirate to Pirate mentor. Emilia competes in volleyball and basketball for school and HTH Volleyball and Intensity softball. She has been named to the A Honor Roll. Emilia enjoys sports and hanging out with friends and family.

PINEVILLE A mother is suing the Wyoming County Board of Education alleging it is responsible for harassment her child has suffered.
P.H., a minor, through her parent, Brenda Gibson, filed the lawsuit against the school board claiming she was bullied and teased by other students at West Side High School because of her anxiety, autism, depression and other mental health conditions, according to a complaint filed in Wyoming Circuit Court.
Gibson claims P.H. was falsely accused by students, teachers and Principal Keith Stewart on Sept. 25, 2019, of threatening other students during Drama Club when she was playing with a paper clip and pretending it was a gun. P.H. claims she was being playful and her intent was misinterpreted.
QUITE THE WHIRLWIND: 13-year-old Amaya talks newest role, life in Hollywood amid COVID-19
It s been quite the whirlwind for Brady Amaya, who moved to Los Angeles in 2018 to pursue a career as an actor and dancer.
The Carleton-born 13-year-old has had guest spots on popular television series like Fox’s 9-1-1, ABC’s American Housewife, and NBC’s This Is Us.
He’s appeared in theater, in commercials, and even on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Amaya also dances regularly with the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks’ LA Sparkids Dance Team, and he’s also shown off his moves in several music videos. Most recently he’s had a stint as a recurring guest star on the Nickelodeon show, Drama Club.
