The coronavirus caseload in the Thane district of Maharashtra has risen to 5,36,928 with the addition of 479 cases, an official said on Saturday.
These cases were reported on Friday, he said.
The virus claimed the lives of 14 patients during the day, which pushed the overall death toll in the district to 10,803.
Thane s COVID-19 mortality rate now stands at 2.01 per cent, he added.
In neighboring Palghar district, the infection count has gone up to 1,18,010, while the death toll has reached 2,627, another official said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 8,992 new coronavirus cases and 200 fatalities on Friday while 10,458 patients recovered from the infection, a state health department official said.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra reported 9,855 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, highest in the last more than four months, taking the tally of infections to 21,79,185, a health department official said.
The death toll rose to 52,280 with 42 fresh fatalities, he said.
On October 17, the state had reported 10,259 cases, after which the graph had declined.
