With news of federal investigations into county jails in Massachusetts and Georgia for abuses against immigrant detainees, I write to inform you of yet another jail that is violating the rights of immigrants. Knox County in Tennessee is operating an unlawful immigration enforcement program and has illegally detained more than 1,300 people since the program began. Let me explain.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. The Knox County Sheriff s Office is investigating after a shooting in West Knox County sent two people to the hospital early Monday morning.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for two individuals with gunshot wounds after 2:30 a.m. at the 11000 block of Outlet Drive in West Knox County.
Upon arrival, officers said they found two individuals with gunshot wounds. They were transported by AMR for treatment.
Major Crimes detectives were called in to investigate. The investigation is in the preliminary stages.
