Warren crash injures seven
Seven people were injured Friday afternoon in a two-car crash on Route 1 in Warren.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, on July 2 at approximately 3 p.m., a 2011 Acura sports utility vehicle operated by Joshua Hatch, 47, of Austin Texas was heading south on Route 1 slowing to turn left onto the Sterling Road in the area of Lie Nielsen Toolworks. A 2013 Kia Forte, operated by Amber Schmaling, 42, of Standish, was also traveling south on Route 1 behind the Acura and struck the Acura as it slowed in traffic.
Hatch and the five passengers of the Acura were treated and released at the scene for their injuries. Schmaling and the one passenger of the Kia were taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for their injuries.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) A registered sex offender was taken into custody after a standoff with negotiation officers Thursday along Strawberry Plains Pike, according to Knoxville police.
Police said that on Thursday afternoon, officers were advised of the possible location of a man who is a registered sex offender with an active warrant for domestic aggravated assault in the area of Strawberry Plains Pike. Both KPD and Knox County Sheriff’s Office units responded to the area.
The man was located in his vehicle outside of a residence in the 7900 block of Strawberry Plains Pike and made threats of suicide when officers attempted to make contact. KPD Negotiators were called to the scene in an effort to safely take him into custody.

Head-on collision on Maynardville Highway resulted in one fatality, two injured
Two vehicles struck each other head-on on Maynardville Highway near Loyston Road. One died in the crash and two others were injured.

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn.
UPDATE 10:20 PM 6/27/2021: At 7:55 p.m., Rural Metro Fire, Knox County Rescue and AMR responded to a two car accident on Maynardville Highway near Loyston Road.
Both vehicles hit head on, with one fatality and one person trapped in the wreckage. That person and another, were transported to the trauma center, one with life threatening injuries and another with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
