Bodies found on Valsad coast are of Mumbai vessels: Cops | Surat News

Surat: Valsad police on Sunday confirmed that the bodies that had washed ashore are of tugboat Varaprada members and possibly of the barge P-305. After four bodies were found on the coast at Dungri and Tithal on Saturday, three more bodies were found on Sunday morning. Police said that of the seven bodies, four bodies have been identified. “One is of Nagendra Kumar, the captain of the tugboat, and others could be the personnel of the tugboat or the barge,” said Dr Rajdeepsinh Zala, superintendent of Valsad police. The identification was done from the identity cards found on the bodies. “Once the family members reach and identify, this will be confirmed formally,” Zala said. He added that one more body will also be identified by Sunday night.

INS Makar conducts diving operations on wreck of Tug Varaprada ANI | Updated: May 24, 2021 22:43 IST New Delhi [India], May 24 (ANI): Specialist Clearance Diving Team of Western Naval Command on Monday conducted the diving Operations over the wreck of Tug Varaprada, informed the Indian Navy. According to the Indian Navy, the diving was carried out at a depth of 32 Metres in nil visibility conditions at distance of 35 nautical miles from Mumbai harbour from INS Makar and INS Tarasa. Specialised surface supply diving equipment, underwater search equipment, hand held SONAR and underwater lights were used during the dive operations. No mortal remains were located underwater, it said.

Highlights Six bodies believed to be off victims of the tugboat that sank at the Arabian Sea due to Cyclone Tauktae was found in Gujarat. Valsad Superintendent of Police said one was identified as that of the captain of tugboat ”Varaprada”. New Delhi: The local authorities in Gujarat s Valsad found six bodies believd to have been drowned in the tugboat tragedy at the Arabian Sea. Among them were the bodies of tugboat (Varaprada) captain identified as Nagendra Kumar while five other bodies were also been fished out but their identities are yet to be ascertained.  Since Saturday evening, bodies were recovered from two different places in south Gujarat, Valsad Superintendent of Police Rajdeepsinh Jhala said.
