Before NBC Universal’s upfront presentation on Monday to advertisers, the company announced dozens of new shows for Bravo, E!, USA Network, Oxygen and SYFY. In the press release, 33 new unscripted shows were announced along with 30 shows returning to the suite of channels.
Among the highlights is a new “Below Deck” spinoff, called “Below Deck Adventure,” which will premiere on Bravo early next year, and is set in the “glacial fjords of Norway.” Also on Bravo will be the tentatively titled “Kandi OLG Project,” premiering later this year, which will follow Kandi Burruss’ expanding Atlanta restaurant project. The much-Instagrammed “Summer House Winter Charm,” a mashup of the Bravo shows “Southern Charm” and “Summer House,” will debut on Bravo in the fall.
Dexter season 9: James Remar confirms revival won t include original cast

Although characters certainly came and went, there was a fairly solid core cast in the original eight seasons of
Dexter, but it would seem that we shouldn t expect any of them to turn up in the upcoming revival. Showtime announced last year that they be reviving
Dexter for a ten-part limited-series that will see Clyde Phillips returning as showrunner and Michael C. Hall stepping back into the shoes of the serial killer with a heart of gold.
James Remar played Harry Morgan in the original series, Dexter s adoptive father. Although the character had passed away before the series even began, Remar frequently appeared in flashbacks and as a manifestation of Dexter s moral code throughout all eight seasons. While speaking to a fan on Instagram, Remar said that Showtime didn t ask any of the original cast to return, although most of them were definitely open to it.
Esquire in 2014, Johnson explained why he needed to dial back
Dr. Hunter S. Thompson s (yes, him) first treatment for the first draft of the original series. It was too Hunter! We conceived the idea about three in the morning at his place; he was my neighbor in Aspen. I had a commitment at CBS for a 22 episode series, anything I wanted to do. I could have done the phone book if I wanted. And Hunter was broke, needed money. I didn t really need to do the series, but I thought it would be a good way to look after my buddy, Johnson explained. So I conceived it with him. It was originally called Off-Duty. It was about two off-duty cops. In the show, a lot of the storylines had to do with us doing off-duty business to help Cheech pay for expenses. We had a security service, a private detective agency, stuff like that, which fed stories into the other stuff. Anyway, that s how it was conceived.
