While Don Johnson has largely headlined and supported dramatic projects throughout his long career notably in TV series like
Miami Vice and
Harley Davidson and the
Marlboro Man and
Django Unchained viewers could see, even in those mostly serious characters, flashes of a wry, tongue-in-cheek comedic sensibility that the actor brought. In recent years, Johnson has also started displaying his talent for more straight-up comedy in his performances, as he memorably did in his Seasons 2 and 3 appearances in
Eastbound & Down.
Now, in NBC’s new sitcom
Kenan (Tuesdays), Johnson has found a regular role that lets him cut loose with a mostly comedic performance that he also balances with subtle bits of emotion.

1964 - The Beatles made their US chart debut when I Want To Hold Your Hand . John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote this in Jane Asher s basement. Asher was an actress who became Paul s first high-profile girlfriend. Bob Dylan thought the line I can t hide was I get high, and a reference to marijuana. He was surprised to learn they had never tried pot, and became part of Beatles lore when he introduced them to it.
1974 - Former members from Free, (Paul Rodgers & Simon Kirke), Mott The Hoople (Mick Ralphs), and King Crimson, (Boz Burrell), formed Bad Company. Contrary to speculation that singer Paul Rodgers named the band after the Jeff Bridges film Bad Company, Rodgers stated in an interview with Spinner.com, that the idea came from a book of Victorian morals that showed a picture of an innocent kid looking up at an unsavory character leaning against a lamp post.
This Filmed In Maine Thriller Is A Must See
Flipping through the seeming endless list of free (with subscription, of course) movies on Amazon Prime, I am always on the lookout for movies set in Maine. Over the weekend, I saw a bunch of trailers for a movie called “Blow the Man Down”. From the trailer, it looked like it had a “Knives Out” quirkiness to it. And, it looked like it was set in Maine.
The story follows Mary Beth and Priscilla Connolly, sisters who live in the fictional Maine town of Easter Cove. Their mother, who ran a fish shop, recently passed away, leaving the sisters with a failing business and a house that is close to foreclosure. Without giving away too much of the plot, due to a chance meeting at a local bar, one of the sisters ends up with a large chunk of cash. Throughout the rest of the movie, the sisters need to avoid having the police connect them to a crime while they have to deal with the rightful owner of the stolen cash.
