As many as six armed men looted around 15 kilograms of gold and Rs 5 lakh cash from a Manappuram Finance branch in Kamla Nagar area in Agra on Saturday. Two of the six accused were killed in an encounter.
According to the police, six armed men entered the office of the Manappuram Finance branch around 2 pm. They threatened the staff present there and took away around 15 kilograms of gold. They were wearing masks and caps to hide their identity.
ADG, Agra Zone, Rajeev Krishna told reporters that six armed men entered the premises and overpowered the staff and looted around 15 kilograms of gold.
AGRA: A well-organised gang, which allegedly dented the government exchequer by hundreds of crore in the last three years by floating a fake website of transport department and issuing counterfeit tax receipts to commercial vehicles at border checkposts, has been busted by UP Police’s cyber cell in Agra. All such tax money collected from vehicles was being pocketed by the gang.
So far, four of its members, including a software engineer who was hosting the server of the fake website, have been arrested. Five associates are absconding. The racket was spread in at least six states Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, UP, MP and Maharashtra.
