Kaylee s family: Please buy your ticket for St Jude Dream Home Giveaway

“We absolutely love the Dream Home Giveaway! The homes are always so beautiful and dreamy! It is truly a win-win for everyone. Someone wins a house! What!? And lives are saved. It really doesn’t get much better than that,” said Kaylee.  Kaylee’s story In December 2014, Kaylee Chavez was only 10 years old. With bad headaches and no appetite, the family was told it was only a virus.  “One morning, she rolled over and got sick, too weak to even get out of bed,” said Kaylee’s Mom, Jen Chavez. On December 5 th, the doctor saw a tumor on the CT scan and told the family that Kaylee would need brain surgery. Her odds of survival were only 50 percent. She survived the surgery, but her cancer had spread: There were spots on Kaylee’s spine. She was allowed to go home at Christmas but everyone was so worried it would be their last one with their beloved daughter.

Then there s the grand entry way with 12-foot ceiling, and the cathedral ceiling that runs from the kitchen through the living room. Of special interest, perhaps, to aging boomers, the four bedrooms, three baths, half-bath, study and game room are all on on level. The list of amenities goes on. French Construction Tom French and his son, Andrew wasn t the only builder pouring on the amenities and extras for this year s smaller-than-usual Parade of Homes Spring Festival this weekend and next.

Minnesota s Favorite Home Style Isn t One You ll See on HGTV

Get our free mobile app While Craftsman, Mid-Century Modern or Modern Farmhouse are all some of the most popular home styles you ll see on HGTV, here in Minnesota our favorite is a little bit different. If you watch any of those HGTV shows like House Hunters, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, Lakefront Bargain Hunt (there are a ton of them and my wife and I watch them all the time!), you ll hear several different styles of homes that are the most popular across the country. Whether it s the Craftsman Style, Modern Farmhouse, Mid-Century Modern (my favorite), or something more basic like a Ranch or Rambler, there are several distinct styles of homes that seem to keep popping up on those HGTV shows. And, since the pandemic has forced us to spend a lot more time at our own homes than before, remodeling or redoing your home to take on a new, updated style has also become way more popular too.
