Your guide to Oklahoma City's exploding real estate market

Your guide to Oklahoma City s exploding real estate market Richard Mize, Oklahoman © RICHARD MIZE/THE OKLAHOMAN FILE A home that sold earlier this year in Edmond. Virtually nobody saw the homebuying boom coming out of the fog of the coronavirus pandemic, but by last summer the market had exploded. A volatile mix caused it to almost spontaneously combust: Coronavirus-related pauses in construction as well as the manufacture and distribution of building materials sucked down the supply of new houses in the spring of 2020. That combined head-on with federally engineered low mortgage interest rates that sparked demand including from investors swooping in to buy houses to turn into rentals.

'Pinterest-worthy' rooms promised at this year's Oklahoma City Parade of Homes Spring Festival

Pinterest-worthy rooms promised at this year s Oklahoma City Parade of Homes Spring Festival Richard Mize, Oklahoman © PROVIDED BY CENTRAL OKLAHOMA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION Living room of French Construction s entry in the Parade of Homes Spring Festival at 2925 Gold Finch Drive in Edmond s Fallbrook addition. Bathroom tile alone usually isn t all that interesting, but 2-by-4 tile is if it s 2 feet by 4 feet. French Construction added a cathedral ceiling, freestanding tub and frameless shower, for an absorbing effect. Then there s the grand entry way with 12-foot ceiling, and the cathedral ceiling that runs from the kitchen through the living room. © PROVIDED BY CENTRAL OKLAHOMA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION

New homes are loaded with amenities in Parade of Homes Spring Festival

Oklahoman Bathroom tile alone usually isn t all that interesting, but 2-by-4 tile is if it s 2 feet by 4 feet. French Construction added a cathedral ceiling, freestanding tub and frameless shower, for an absorbing effect. Then there s the grand entry way with 12-foot ceiling, and the cathedral ceiling that runs from the kitchen through the living room. Of special interest, perhaps, to aging boomers, the four bedrooms, three baths, half-bath, study and game room are all on on level. The list of amenities goes on. French Construction Tom French and his son, Andrew wasn t the only builder pouring on the amenities and extras for this year s smaller-than-usual Parade of Homes Spring Festival this weekend and next.
