FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. A Scottsdale man is facing a kidnapping charge after allegedly forcing a woman into his car along Interstate 17 south of Flagstaff, according to Coconino County Sheriff’s officials.
They said a 911 caller reported seeing a woman was strapped or tied to the front passenger seat of a vehicle at a gas station Tuesday morning.
The caller also provided the vehicle’s license plate number and authorities identified the owner as 23-year-old Brandon Thomas Stewart.
Sheriff’s investigators pinged Stewart’s cellphone to determine his location and the vehicle was found and stopped on Interstate 40 east of Flagstaff.
Authorities said Stewart was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Navajo County Detention Center. They said the kidnapped woman wasn’t hurt and it’s unclear if Stewart knew her.

Authorities arrested a kidnapping suspect south of Flagstaff Tuesday. Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were attempting to find a male suspect and a female victim, who was reportedly forced into a vehicle along Interstate-17 in the late morning hours. At around noon, CCSO received a call from the Mustang Gas Station in Clints Well along Highway 87, reporting the vehicle from the incident on I-17 was in the area. The caller told officials a female passenger was seen strapped, or tied, to the front passenger seat in a white-colored four-door Jeep Wrangler. The caller followed the Jeep to a forest service road. Deputies from Coconino and Navajo counties, as well as a DPS helicopter, looked for the vehicle, which was found later in the evening.
