They said: About this time last year I was referred to a GP because I was showing depressive and psychotic tendencies. Straight away they offered me antidepressants, but because of my family history of schizophrenia and psychosis I didn t want them. Instead they made me do a mood diary, but nobody got back to me after I handed it in.

A new campaign launching today is aiming to highlight
significant mental health issues faced within the music
industry. The campaign Music Holds Hope involves a series of
video interviews featuring local artists: Rei, Foley (Ash
& Gabe), Michael Murphy (Written by Wolves), Abby Lee
Harder and Denel speaking candidly about the challenges they
have faced with their mental health as well as how music
helped them through their wellbeing journey.
A survey
conducted by MusicHelps in 2018 found more than a third
(35%) of musical creatives in New Zealand rated their mental
and emotional well-being as ‘fair’ or ‘poor’ and

Two former Norwich City players are among the well known local names in a new video supporting a campaign to raise awareness of mental health services.
Darren Eadie and Cedric Anselin are both filmed at Carrow Road in the video that is part of the ‘Reach Out’ campaign, developed by the NHS Wellbeing Service in Norfolk and Waveney launched as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
The film also features Paralympian and mental health ambassador Danny Nobbs, cabaret artist Joseph Ballard aka Titania Trust, singer and mental health advocate Maria Uzor, musician Joe Rio Santana Green, a member of Norwich band The Foreign Locals, and local mindset coach Mevy Ahmed.
Young people create good mental health
On national Mental Health Awareness Week (May 10-16), Leeds City Council is launching a range of new resources created by young people for their peers to support positive mental health and wellbeing.

These include support opportunities, a guide to creating a youth ‘wellbeing club’ from the Leeds Youth Council, and a website sharing advice on managing stress and anxiety by the Leeds Children’s Mayor.
The new resources are all the result of collaborative projects run by Leeds City Council as part of the Child Friendly Leeds ambition.
