Six members of Soni family attempted suicide in Sama area
Vadodara: The Sama police on Friday arrested two astrologers from Rajasthan who had allegedly duped the Soni family that committed mass suicide in the city last week. The accused were brought to the city and will be presented before the court to seek remand for further questioning in the case. Meanwhile, a local court rejected the anticipatory bail of the five other accused astrologers on Friday.
According to the police, its team had got the location of the duo on the basis of a tip-off from local sources in Rajasthan. “We tracked them down to Mangrol town in Rajasthan. The other seven accused are in hiding, but we will arrest them soon,” said P D Parmar, Sama police inspector. The duo that was arrested has been identified as Sahil Vohra alias Sitaram Bhargav (33) and Gajendra Bhargav (31).

Vadodara: Five astrologers, who were booked for duping the Soni family, have filed for anticipatory bail in the district court. The court has slated a hearing for the bail applications on Friday. The Sama police had recently filed a case of cheating against nine astrologers for cheating the Soni family of Rs 32.85 lakh.
Six members of the family attempted to commit suicide at their home in Sama area on March 3. While three died on the spot, two lost their lives during the treatment. Of the nine accused, Prahladram Joshi, Khinraj Joshi, Hemant Joshi, Alkesh Joshi and Vijay Joshi have filed for anticipatory bail. The police have already formed two teams to track down all the accused.

Soni had consulted several astrologers to overcome his financial problems and ended up paying them all a huge amount. The police have formed two teams to track down the astrologers from Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
“Narendra’s son, Bhavin told us that his father was under immense stress to repay debts and they were not finding a good buyer for their house. So he contacted several astrologers to seek a solution. The astrologers offered to perform some rituals and took lakhs of rupees from Soni,” said P D Parmar, Sama police inspector.
