STAFF and volunteers of Foxglove Covert and Dementia Forward, the two North Yorkshire charities that have received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, recently met at Foxglove Covert to celebrate and make plans to work together. The day began with a short dementia awareness training session for the Foxglove volunteers, followed by a guided walk around the 100-acre site at Catterick Garrison in preparation for a visit from a dementia group. The team from Dementia Forward were especially pleased to discover the hay meadow full of buttercups – their emblem. Both groups greatly enjoyed the day and members said they are looking forward to working closer together in the future.
