Mira Bhayandar: Lab techie held for doling out Covid negative reports sans test The accused lab technician in police custody Two days after the crime branch (unit 1) of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police commissionerate busted a racket involving issuance of fake Covid-19 negative reports to bus passengers, a 26-year-old lab technician from Mira Road was held for a similar crime on Wednesday. A resident of Lalji Pada area in Kandivali (west), the accused identified as-Krishna Ramdular Saroj (26) works as a technician for the Mira Road unit of a well-known chain of laboratories. Acting on a tip-off that the accused was doling out RT-PCR negative reports for Rs. 1,000 without conducting swab tests, the crime branch team led by Police Inspector- Aviraj Kurhade under the supervision of DCP (Crime)- Dr. Mahesh Patil, deputed a decoy who sent copies of Aadhar cards of six people.

Crows found dead in Jadla gram panchayat

1185 lan, March 11 The recovery of three dead crows in Jadla gram panchayat near Subathu Cantonment created panic among villagers last evening. They said that several dead crows had been found in the forest area as well as water bodies such as Naya Nagar, Arla and Bhali in the past few days. They feared that the crows might have died of avian flu. Dr BB Gupta, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, however, said that the field staff visited Jadla gram panchayat yesterday and found three dead crows. He added that there was a bleak chance of avian flu being the cause of the death of the crows. Samples are sent for lab analysis only if the mortality of five or more birds occur. TNS

MUMBAI: A peon employed in the Mira Road branch of a scheduled bank in Mumbai was arrested for allegedly stealing cash from the bank s ATM last month. The bank officials had registered a case of theft against an unknown person on February 20 after Rs 1.25 lakh was found missing from the bank s ATM hours after it was refilled by the private agency. As per procedure, the ATM is put out of service for cash refilling. The cassettes holding the currency are removed and loaded with notes. The amount of money loaded is recorded and the ATM is put back into service.
