Dr Yasmin Rashid hints at strict lockdown

LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said here Sunday that corona test to positivity ratio was increasing at an alarming level and stricter lockdowns may be enforced if people did not comply with SOPs.
Addressing a press conference at Chief Minister Secretariat, the health minister said that in some cities it was way over 12 percent whereas in eight cities it was already above 8 percent. She said a total of 288,598 cases had been reported in Punjab and 7,964 people have lost their lives. In the last 24 hours, 3056 cases have been reported and 67 people lost their lives.
The provincial government has requisitioned the federal government for troops of Pakistan Army and Rangers to help the civil administration and police to strictly implement the NCOC guidelines. Reuters/File
LAHORE: Punjab health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Sunday said the province had made a commitment to the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) to increase its vaccination dispensation to around 35,000 over-50-year old people in the province to control exponential increase in the coronavirus infectivity rate.
Speaking at a news conference at the chief minister’s secretariat here, she said oxygen availability in Punjab’s hospitals was satisfactory and the industries department had been asked to divert its oxygen share to the health department to ensure ample supply for the Covid patients.
Corona claims 98 more lives in Punjab

LAHORE : As many as 98 COVID-19 patients died and 3,073 new positive cases were confirmed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
According to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) report issued on Saturday, the toll of fatalities was raised to 7,897 in Punjab, while confirmed cases of coronavirus reached 285,542 in the province. As per the spokesperson of Corona Monitoring Room at Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, as many as 23,590 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, which raised the total number of tests to 4,453,982 in the province.
After 7,897 fatalities and recovery of a total of 231,235 patients, including 2,351 recoveries in the last 24 hours, as many as 46,410 active cases still remain, who are either isolated at homes or under treatment at different quarantine centres and health facilities. Bed occupancy rate in public hospitals swells to 60%

Beds reserved for coronavirus patients have been occupied by almost 60% owing to an increase in coronavirus cases across the province.
Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Secretary Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan has disclosed that a total of 6,685 beds are reserved in all public hospitals for coronavirus patients, out of which 4,055 beds have been unoccupied.
As many as 1,601 beds reserved in government hospitals of the provincial metropolis and 777 beds are vacant so far, he added.
He highlighted that so far 184,942 patients have been recovered in 200 public sector hospitals being run under the control of Specialised and Primary and Secondary Healthcare Departments in which 30 are situated in Lahore while 720 patients were recovered during the last 24 hours.

LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid Wednesday visited the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI&RC) and met with Dr Faisal Saud Dar, who was appointed as dean of PKLI&RC with effective from April 20, 2021 for a period of 5 years.
The minister reviewed the performance of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute. Board of Governors Chairman Prof Dr. Syed Javed Raza Gardezi and Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Dept Secy Barrister Nabeel Awan was also present.
