The public is invited to attend the American Association of University Women Del Mar-Leucadia Branch virtual program “10 Tips for Managing Conflict” on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. Kathryn Shade, senior program manager for the National Conflict Resolution Center, will discuss how to bridge the current climate of polarization in families and across the political divide, and how to restore civil conversations with those with whom we disagree. She will explain NCRC’s Code of Civil Discourse with its belief that respectful and constructive airing of different points of view is critical to successful dialogue. This will include how to manage conflict in our relationships with friends, relatives and neighbors, as well as in our national discourse.
The recreation division of the Town of Fountain Hills Community Services Department has for almost a year now been working through the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain activities and education programs geared toward serving the residents of the community.
âThe Community Services department had to cancel many events in 2020 due to the pandemic, such as Irish Fountain Fest, Music Fest, Back to School Bash, Fourth at the Fountain, Elfieâs Playground Palooza and Eggstravaganza,â said Recreation Manager Linda Ayres. âChallenges like these drive the staff to innovate and find new ways to engage the community in a safe manner.
âWe collaborated as a team to come up with some of our ideas and researched industry trends for programming during the COVID-19 pandemic.â

In its 50th year, Great Decisions is a program sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association for people interested in global affairs. The Vineyard Haven library’s Great Decisions group will meet on Zoom for eight sessions every other week beginning Thursday, Feb. 4, at 6 pm. Participants will watch a 30-minute video and read articles related to each session’s topic in advance of the discussion.
