THE developers behind a multi-million pound care home in Malvern are holding an opening event for their showroom in the town. Maria Mallaband Care Group is currently building the Windsor Court Care Home on the site of the old Malvern Community Hospital, and is inviting individuals and families to come and look at examples of the kind of accommodation available. Severe disruption for Hereford rail service after cracks found in trains

SEVERE disruption continues on the rails this morning after cracks were found in high speed trains. Great Western Railway, which operates services between Hereford and London Paddington, said a number of Class 800 series Hitachi trains in use by several train companies have been withdrawn from service for precautionary safety checks. A significant number of long-distance train services were cancelled on Saturday 8 May and disruption is continuing into this week. Owing to the short notice unavailability of carriages which form Great Western Railway High Speed train services, there will be a limited service in place across the main line routes. Great Western Railway have had to adapt many of their High Speed service timetables into a series of separate shuttle services. This has been done to ensure that they can advertise and operate a limited but robust service using all available resources. Commuters warned not to travel today as more trains cancelled in Swindon

Hitachi 800 trains were stopped in their tracks on Saturday and Sunday after the fault was discovered. Great Western Railway and London North Eastern Railway have advised people not to travel today, and announced more cancellations are expected across this week. A spokesperson for GWR said: “A number of 800 Class Hitachi trains have been withdrawn from service for precautionary safety checks. “As a result a significant number of long-distance services will be cancelled on Monday 10 May and disruption is expected to continue into the following week.” There are no services, or only an extremely limited service on these routes: London Paddington, calling at Swindon, Bath Spa, and Bristol Temple Meads.
