Addis Ababa, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopia thanked China for its support in the fight against Covid-19 and mitigating the economic impacts caused by the pandemic, which has killed more than 2,000 people in the country so far. We thank the government and companies, including the Jack Ma Foundation, for their collaboration in the fight against the global scourge, Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen said during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhao Zhiyuan.

Khartoum, Jan. 14, 2021 Sudan has condemned the violation of its airspace and borders by an Ethiopian military plane as tension between the two neigbours escalates.
The state-run Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported on Wednesday that the Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a “dangerous escalation that could have severe consequences and will result in more tension at the border area”.
The statement said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded that “such hostilities should not be repeated in the future due to their dangerous repercussions on the future of the bilateral relations between the two countries and on the security and stability in the Horn of Africa region”.

In this brief essay, I will try to explain my view about Ethiopia, my hope, my wish, and my optimism. To some, my optimism may appear unnecessarily stretched. But remember, I am telling you this in the last week of 2020. Looking ahead, the world does not afford anything but optimism-so as Ethiopia.
Dear young Ethiopians please take five minutes to think about what your country went through. Do not go far back, think not about prehistoric time; this is about your future and your countries future, so go back only a few years with a focus on 2020. If you look and search, there they are! Lots of hope, enormous possibilities, countless opportunities. If you critically evaluate what is happening right now, there are real potentials for positive and significant changes. There is attainable prosperity right at the corner. In short, Ethiopia is at the ideal time for a positive, holistic, and structural change.

A delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen, has visited Sudan this week to peacefully discuss border related disputes between the two countries.
“The principle of solidarity and fraternity has been one of the defining characteristics of our Ethiopia and Sudan bilateral relations. The strong and longstanding ties between our two countries are intertwined and whatever happens in Ethiopia will certainly have spillover effect in the Sudan and vice versa,” said Demeke Mekonnen at Ethiopia-Sudan High Level Political Committee Meeting kicked off today (December 22). “However, what has happened in our common boarder recently did not commensurate from this longstanding principle of solidarity and fraternity….I am very hopeful and confident that we will have a very fruitful and productive discussion that will further enhance our fraternal relations.”
