Tararua community groups will benefit by more than $10,000 in grants from the Dannevirke Community Board.
A report to Tuesday s meeting of the board said it had received 10 applications to its general assistance grants scheme seeking $25,256.21 in funding.
Tararua District Council democracy services manager Richard Taylor said the board had $14,129.09 at its disposal to last until its next funding allocation in July.
The biggest grant approved was $2500 to the Rua Roa Community Hall Society to replace the hall ceiling. The society had requested funding of $4950.75.

TWO PROJECTS in South Nesting are among the first to be given grants from the new Shetland Community Benefit Fund (SCBF), which administers funds made available by the Viking Energy wind farm.
The South Nesting Boating Club is to receive £40,000 to buy the land for a new 40-berth marina at Catfirth and allow the club to move on to the next phase of the scheme.

And the South Nesting Hall committee has been granted £1,900 to improve disabled access to the building.
Both are supported by the Nesting and Lunnasting Community Council.

All the things that I am grateful for are being put at risk by the heavy crude oil that Line 3 is being built to carry. Being grateful for Line 3 is akin to thanking the arsonists for not lighting your house on fire yet.
Will Randy Ihle be grateful when he isnât able to fish in his favorite lake because of an oil spill or isnât able to snowmobile because climate change has resulted in less snow on the trails? All are real possibilities that pipeline supporters conveniently ignore.

New Zealand stands to benefit by up to $1 billion a year now that Australian tourists can come here quarantine-free from April 19.
Business groups, pilots and travel agents have welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
While travellers from New Zealand have been able to enter much of Australia quarantine-free for the past six months, the announcement of a start date for a two-way bubble is a shot in the arm for struggling tourism and travel businesses on both sides of the Tasman.
