In response to Randy Ihle letter entitled âGrateful for Line 3.â
There are so many things that I am more grateful for than Enbridgeâs Line 3 pipeline. I am grateful for clean water, clean air and a healthy ecosystem. All the things that I am grateful for are being put at risk by the heavy crude oil that Line 3 is being built to carry. Being grateful for Line 3 is akin to thanking the arsonists for not lighting your house on fire yet.
Will Randy Ihle be grateful when he isnât able to fish in his favorite lake because of an oil spill or isnât able to snowmobile because climate change has resulted in less snow on the trails? All are real possibilities that pipeline supporters conveniently ignore.

In a world where reality and expectations often donât align, as construction begins on the Line 3 replacement project, it is nice to see that the project is doing what Enbridge promised it was going to do.Â
Line 3 is putting thousands of people to work and it is helping out the local economies where workers are living and spending money during construction.
The Line 3 is doing great things for our state already and construction has just begun. With thousands of workers hard at work, restaurants are getting more customers (takeout, for now), hotels are filling up, and stores are having to restock their inventories.
