Development of 370 Appleton homes progressing

By Aran Dhillon, Local Democracy Reporter Development work at the Appleton Cross site is progressing THE development of 370 new homes on land in south Warrington is progressing. Barratt and David Wilson Homes – both part of Barratt Developments Plc – were selected by Homes England to construct the properties at Appleton Cross. Work at the site, on Dipping Brook Avenue, was halted in March last year because of the coronavirus pandemic before resuming again. Construction work at the site, which is fenced off, is progressing with the development beginning to take shape. The scheme will include detached, semi-detached and mews style dwellings with associated car parking, landscaping and a public open space.

Roads around Walton Hall and Appleton Reservoir > A 24-hour clearway is set to be introduced on roads in the area later this month. It prevents vehicles from stopping or coming to rest at any time. Council bosses say the measures will come in force on March 26 on Firs Lane, Hough s Lane, Park Lane, Walton Lea Road and Warrington Road from its junction with Old Chester Road and Whitefield Road from its junction with Walton Lea Road to its junction with Old Hall Close. The restrictions are required as part of the proposed relaxation of lockdown entering the summer months to address potential large numbers of visitors in relation to the Covid-19 response.
