4.5 quake 1.9 km south of Hualien City, Taiwan, 14 Jul 11:36 am (GMT +8)
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Taiwan near Hualien City, Hualien, Taiwan, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Wednesday 14 July 2021 at 11:36 am local time at a very shallow depth of 9 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
