Put on hold by COVID-19, Kern Electronics and Lasers is now prepared to add on another 20,000 square foot space to their existing building in the Wadena Industrial Park.
Kern Electronics and Lasers President Derek Kern said the expansion was part of a plan in the making over the last few years. As the company has continued to grow and expand into overseas markets, the need to increase staffing and production was necessary.

Leafy greens like this lettuce are the featured vegetable for this year s One Vegetable One Community. Get your hands on some lettuce at one of several stops in Wadena including: U of MN Extension, the Wadena Library, the Wadena Chamber of Commerce, MAHUBE-OTWA Community Action, Pete’s Nursery and the Wadena Farmers Market.

One Vegetable One Community enters its fifth year, with Mixed Lettuce Greens being the highlighted veggie. This year’s vegetable follows kale, carrots, summer squash, and tomatoes, since it’s beginning in 2017 in Wadena County. Vegetable seed packets have an attached flyer, with information on planting, care, harvest, and a recipe, in hopes of getting area residents and businesses enthused about growing a certain vegetable of the year.
