Northern pubco the Inn Collection Group has added a 21 st​ site to its portfolio in the form of art deco site the Park Hotel at North Tyneside’s Longsands beach.  The growing pub group – which boasts sites in Northumberland, County Durham, Teesside, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire and Wearside – completed on the 53-bedroom venue in an undisclosed deal.  “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming the Park into our pubs with rooms family,” managing director of the Inn Collection Group Sean Donkin said. “With its location alongside one of the UK’s most popular beaches and proximity to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, it’s a great fit with our brand, offering customers stunning places to eat, drink, sleep and explore from in outstanding locations across Northern England.

The Princess on Smithcroft Road, Riddrie, will relaunch after a £325,000 refurbishment, bringing 15 new jobs. Run by mother and daughter Adrienne Greenaway and Victoria Ashgar, the pub is said to be “unrecognisable” from its former incarnation following the project. The refurbishment works, funded by owner Star Pubs & Bars, part of brewing giant Heineken, spanned a complete interior revamp, as well as the development of a 120-stearer beer garden in what was formerly a concrete courtyard. The outdoor space features murals by Kirkshaws artist Robert Boyle, decking, planting, heating and festooned lighting, with a marquee able to accommodate 60 customers. The operators have also reinvigorated the food menu to appeal to a family audience.

The Daily Mail ​​​reported Heineken was limiting UK pub orders with licensees only receiving three kegs a week of Birra Moretti due to supply issues. A spokesperson for Heineken UK estimated more than 10m adults in England have headed back to the great British pub, with many drinkers opting for a draught pint. High demand “Demand for Birra Moretti and Amstel has totally surpassed our most optimistic forecasts and our breweries are working round the clock to deal with this high level of demand, the spokesperson added. “We are working closely with our customers to keep them regularly updated on the situation and to offer alternative beers from the extensive Heineken UK range of brands, as we increase production.”
