May 13—COLUMBUS — The Star Beacon editor and a reporter earned three first-place awards and a third-place award in the 2020 Ohio Associated Press Media Editors newspaper contest. Editor Ed Puskas took first place in the best editorial writer category. Ross Gallabrese of the (Steubenville) Herald Star finished second in the category, while Benjamin Lanka of The (Newark) Advocate was third. .

COLUMBUS Members of the Herald-Star staff earned two second-place awards and a third-place award in the 2020 Ohio Associated Press Media Editors newspaper contest.
Executive Editor Ross Gallabrese finished second in the best editorial writer category. Ed Puskas of the (Ashtabula) Star Beacon finished first in the category, while Benjamin Lanka of The (Newark) Advocate was third.
Inside the Paint, our annual high school basketball preview edition, earned second-place honors in the best special sports section category. The Medina Gazette’s Fall Football Preview finished first in the category, while The (Celina) Daily Standard’s Fall Sports Preview was third.

CLEVELAND (WOIO) - Amtrak is making plans to expand passenger rail service in Ohio and beyond.
A map of proposed routes posted by the nonprofit public transportation advocacy group All Aboard Ohio shows five new routes, including one from Cleveland to Cincinnati that would run three times each day.

CLEVELAND, Ohio Amtrak is developing what it’s calling a “visionary plan” to expand rail service across the United States, including the possibility of a major expansion in Cleveland that could link the city to Columbus and Cincinnati via train.
The plan, in the early stages of being shopped to local and state officials, includes the possibility of five new routes in Ohio, including four that run through Cleveland.
