Kewanee Historical Society Museum gives patrons a walk on the wild side

Kewanee Historical Society Museum gives patrons a walk on the wild side SUSAN DEVILDER The Star Courier Hidden among the exhibits of Kewanee’s bygone era are more unusual items that people might miss if they’re not paying attention. With the grand opening of the new Kewanee Historical Museum scheduled for this weekend, President Mike DeWalt took the time to point out some of the odder items on exhibit.  Most of the items have been around for a long time and weren’t uncovered in the move, DeWalt said. But for the last four year, DeWalt said he’s spent time uncovering items that were new to him.

Here s how other Kewanee-size towns handle their animal control issues

Here s how other Kewanee-size towns handle their animal control issues Star Courier The American Pet Products Association estimates there are 90 million dogs in the U.S., and in Kewanee, if you follow the daily police reports, it may seem like they re all running loose in a backyard near you. In fact, in 2019 Kewanee residents called upon their highly trained police more than 700 times to make sure Fluffy and Spike were returned home safely. Rarely a day goes by in the Kewanee police report that an officer isn t called for a dog-at-large or some other animal complaint. But Kewanee isn t the only central Illinois town to have animal issues or to develop its own unique strategy to address them, with each town s system created with limited resources and the intent of freeing up officers as much as possible to focus on law enforcement.

” He’s got a good following with the Democratic Party as well” Boy, am I ever going to need a citation for this one. Does Bailey want press or not? I know I can’t help it if Bailey is a bona fide health hazard. That’s Baileys’s schtick, being a health hazard, Bailey should embrace his movement, a movement of possible illness and health hazardly repute. “devout Christian” Yeah, sure. If you say so. Your bible must be different than the I used to have before becoming an atheist. As I put my tin hat on, I bet he sent the picture and called health department. Wants to be given a ticket so he can be a martyr. But maybe I have seen too many aldermen throw bricks through their own windows for a little press. And sure he has Democratic support what Democratic would not want him running against Pritzger?

Henry County Health officials call out Bailey event

Henry County Health officials call out Bailey event Star Courier Henry County health officials say a political event held locally over the weekend likely violated the state s rules for large gatherings. The (county) Office of Emergency Management has been informed about the event and they will be fielding and addressing any complaints, said Health Department Spokeswoman RaeAnn Tucker-Marshall following a Star Courier inquiry Monday. The Saturday meet-and-greet for Republican gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey attracted around 100 people to The Stables banquet center just outside Kewanee. But according to health officials, that s about 50 more than were supposed to be gathering in a confined space under the current Phase 4 mitigation regulations. The health department also noted issues with the food service setup, the rules which require hand-sanitizers at each end of the service table none of which are evident in a photo that ran with the story. Only the food service
