WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Corvettes of the North announced it will no longer host its benefit cruise and concert after 44 years in Wisconsin Rapids.
Ron Hilgart, president of Corvettes of the North, announced Sunday the car club would no longer be able to sponsor the event because it became to difficult to maintain the quality of the event as the club’s members get older.
“The Corvettes of the North hope all of you have enjoyed this event as much as we have enjoyed putting it on,” Hilgart said.
The cruise, which had been canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been the club’s major event each year, held in Wisconsin Rapids. The club’s membership dues and money raised from the cruise and concert supported the club, the Wood County Rescue Squad’s equipment fund, various charities and scholarships for students in automotive fields at Mid-State Technical College and Northcentral Technical College.
