All Adams-Friendship seniors accepted to Mid-State Technical College

ADAMS - Every student in this year s graduating class at Adams-Friendship High School class has been accepted to Mid-State Technical College for the summer and fall 2021 semesters. The partnership between the Adams-Friendship School District and Mid-State is the first of its kind in the area. The effort advances 60 Forward, a new initiative in the state that aims to move Wisconsin toward a postsecondary education attainment rate of 60% by 2027. As older populations in Wisconsin begin to retire and high school graduation rates drop, the state is facing an urgent need for talent, according to the initiative s website.  This year s graduating class in Adams-Friendship has about 100 students. Many would be first-generation college graduates, said Kevin Moore, principal of the high school. About a third of the class has already decided on their next steps, and about 10 of those students are planning to attend Mid-State, he said.

Corvettes of the North: Car club ends Wisconsin Rapids cruise, concert

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Corvettes of the North announced it will no longer host its benefit cruise and concert after 44 years in Wisconsin Rapids. Ron Hilgart, president of Corvettes of the North, announced Sunday the car club would no longer be able to sponsor the event because it became to difficult to maintain the quality of the event as the club’s members get older. “The Corvettes of the North hope all of you have enjoyed this event as much as we have enjoyed putting it on,” Hilgart said. The cruise, which had been canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been the club’s major event each year, held in Wisconsin Rapids. The club’s membership dues and money raised from the cruise and concert supported the club, the Wood County Rescue Squad’s equipment fund, various charities and scholarships for students in automotive fields at Mid-State Technical College and Northcentral Technical College.
